  • musical note A NEW CONCEPT IN LANGUAGE LEARNING

www.tracks4learning.com improves speaking and listening skills through resources for 11 modern languages that include special audio-tracks.

T4L has easy links to hundreds of resources: dictionaries, national Newspapers, Radio, TV, Video archives such as YouTube and other student friendly links. Audio and Worksheets for role plays are specifically targeted at the latest GCSE and Asset language courses. Click on the link to see the full range of Contents for each language.

"Across all phases speaking is the least well developed of all the skills. Students’ inability to be able to say what they want to say in a new language has a negative impact on their confidence and enthusiasm."

Ofsted report on MFL, “The Changing Landscape of Languages”, July 2008

Our resources make a difference. They help students to gain rapid understanding and recognition of the spoken word. This results in improved fluency when speaking, and in easy recall of vocabulary and correct grammar constructions.

Internet availability provides unlimited access for independent learning. Students can work at their own chosen pace - at home as well as in the classroom.

musical note Quotes from UK language teachers

“I have played your audio tracks to several of my classes and they have been met with a very enthusiastic response”

“I was absolutely inspired by the presentation of your resources……. brilliant!”

musical noteMore about our learning resources

Our core resources include earworms mbt® (“musical brain trainer”) audio-tracks. These were developed with one simple aim: to enable the student to hold a conversation in the target language.

They have been proven to dramatically improve confidence, pronunciation and long-term vocabulary recall. Music backing and rhythmic repetitions take the effort out of learning yet are highly effective. As with a song or a jingle, simply listening repeatedly to the melodies embeds phrases into memory and leaves the correct accent ringing in the ears.

We are the only site authorized to offer on-line playback of these outstanding materials, with up to two and a half hours or more of audio for each language.

The audio-tracks cover essential vocabulary for key situations. At the same time a number of useful grammatical structures are learnt, especially the modal verbs (would, could, can) in combination with other verbs like: to be, to look for, to want, to know, to have, to like, to eat, to drink, to buy.

This audio material has been mapped onto each GCSE curriculum (see the Information link for Tracks & specifications). The service provides resources for teachers to incorporate in their lessons as they prefer, rather than a rigid course of “start to finish” lessons. But the audio-tracks can be used in simple sequence as a course for individual study and for classes aimed at business or tourist use, such as in Adult Education. They follow a logical pattern building up basic phrases and vocabulary until the learner should be able to converse in typical situations.

The full text of the audio-tracks is given both in the language and in English translation. We also provide a range of worksheets for the main languages. These are aimed at supporting role-play, and contain additional vocabulary targeting curriculum-specified situations.

Links to useful materials such as TV, Radio, newspapers, magazines and other media resources in the target language, and on-line Dictionaries are provided for all available languages. Students can use these to easily gain increased exposure to the language, for project work, or just to find materials that reflect their own interests.

Languages in the 2011/12 school year
by News Bulletin - Wednesday, 21 September 2011, 06:54 PM

Summer 2011 results show a further decline in numbers taking languages at GCSE.

The effect of the loss of funding for Language Specialism remains to be seen.

Many former Language Colleges have become or are becoming Academies. The good news is that they seem to be continuing their special focus on teaching modern foreign languages.
